I loved both of these, J.. Talk about polar opposites. Aunt Stella is quite a character. Going Home really spoke to me, especially these lines at the end: "I am no longer confined. I am myself again. Today is my birthday." I am a fan of the writings of Joel S. Goldsmith, a twentieth century Christian Mystic. He teaches that a person must die daily to their human selves, their personal sense of self, and be reborn in spirit as part of the One Self, the infinite, eternal, devine One Self. He intends that every day be a birthday.
Thanks KC! I’m not familiar with Goldsmith, though, in quick review his writing (and life) sounds fascinating. While not meant as an adjacent theme I can see how they sound similar.
Going Home. At first I thought this was a metaphor, but changed my mind. I got that he was a guest, an alien guest, a long term guest inhabiting a human body. I loved that it was more of a leap than a fall to go back home and that he leapt just in time! I am not sure I understood this entirely, but it was very entertaining. I don't need backstories or explanations. There are so many things in life that are mysteries to me, j. I don't mind not knowing. Great posts today.
Aunt Stella - I didn't catch on until I got to "beady eyes" then I said, wait a minute... That is a FABULOUS photo you found, J. Though the lady should really have been straddling that gator, don't you think? ha ha ha
Whoo-boy, that’s a tall order. Next time you’re going to order a grand slam, aren’t you? But, I have posted 3 sketchbook stories this week so, maybe I’m already there.

Those were fun. The first one did indeed have a really enjoyable payoff. Nice ones!
Thanks James!

There’s no doubt. Remember when we could get the whole rack of Brontosaurus ribs at the drive-in movie?

Thanks Sharron, as always. And if you figure it out (the story or life) let me know? 😉

How about a triple-header next time? These were great--I especially loved the first

Glad you enjoyed Aunt Stella!
